She finds that toaster ovens do toast unevenly and take too long. I also think it takes a long time to make toast in a toaster oven, but I do like being able to heat up next day pizza.
We seem to have found a very useful compromise with this toast oven. It makes toast like the old toasters (quickly) and I can heat up pizza. I will say the oven portion is very small. It won't fit a regular sized cut piece of pizza. I have to cut the slice in half and flip one half to make it fit. The oven heats up very quickly as well, without burning the pizza.
I love the stylishness of the appliance and it fits very well in our small kitchen. It seems easy to clean especially since I wrap the metal plate in tin foil. I just have to wipe off the toast crumbs off the tin foil.
There is one thing that is pretty obnoxious ...it does 3 very loud beeps when the toast is done. My neighbors know when our toast is done :)))
Basically this unit is great if you mainly need a toaster but like to heat up small leftovers (the oven portion is small) too.
It thaws frozen breads/buns perfectly (on low). On high it’ll make perfect garlic bread. (And still a bit soft underneath). Waffles are perfect, even frozen/reheated pizza thaws perfectly or tastes like it’s fresh cooked! while I’m cooking chicken patties in the oven, I put the (frozen) buns on top to thaw!! It’s perfect!
Note to manufacturer*** please make a timer for the oven mode so it can Have auto shut off too. My kids sometimes forget and burn their breakfast.
Seems like its difficult these days to find a toaster oven that works well and is safe. I had an inexpensive Black & Decker oven that served me well for 18 years. This is the third oven I've purchased in 4 years as I attempt to find an adequate replacement. After using it for about 6 weeks, this one is OK.
Things I like:
One feature I specifically look for is an on/off button. Having to turn a dial for a timer each time I want a piece of toast gives inconsistent results. Plus the timer ticking down is annoying. On this oven, the darkness is set and as long as one is toasting the same type of bread, the results are predictable.
I like the style and color. I have red accents in my kitchen and this oven looks good on my countertop.
As I was working out the right darkness setting or when toasting other types of bread or bagels, it's handy to be able to see through the oven door rather than having to guess or pop up the toast to check it.
A couple of times thin slices of bread have fallen off the rack instead of popping up. In a conventional toaster retrieval can be tricky. With this oven, simply open of oven door and use tongs to remove the toast.
The oven tray seems to be made of aluminum and has a finish that cleans up much better than other oven trays I've had. Oil, grease and food doesn't bake on.
Other comments:
The size is both a pro and a con. I like its small footprint. It doesn't take up much space on my counter. But the tray only holds two pieces of bread if making garlic toast or a couple slices of pizza. One of the ovens I had was bigger; it would hold four slices of bread. But the B&D oven that I used for 18 years was about this size and most times for me that's big enough.
I thought it might toast or heat unevenly because the only heating elements are on the bottom, but that hasn't been a problem. It is a bit slower than some ovens, but that's an easy adjustment. Of course the tray must be removed for toasting, and the lever must be set to oven to close the top slot for oven use.
Some reviews mentioned the annoying beeping. That's true, and it beeps for everything: when it's unplugged, when it's plugged in; when it's switched from oven to toaster and again when switched back to oven; when toast is put in; when toast pops up - this one is most annoying four long slow beeps. Many appliances beep, but this one is a little more irritating.
In summary: It's a clever design that works well for the price. While I don't love it, it works fine and I would recommend it.
The unit seems solidly built, and seems to do everything it is supposed to. The only bad thing I can find is that the end-of-cycle beep is a bit annoying. My son thinks the oven portion takes too long to heat up, but he's an impatient 17-year-old.
OK, one other thing; it comes with a little tray for the oven; the photo here shows the tray being stored in the oven while bagels are being toasted, but the instructions say that the tray should NOT be in the oven while using the device as a toaster. It's kind of a bummer to have to find somewhere to store that dang tray.
During the past 5 months I have enjoyed having this appliance on my counter top. It works well and takes up a small bit of space, perfect for my studio apartment. Great for reheating pizza, fries, what have you. Perfect for cooking up those frozen mini pizzas too. I had a couple of issues with the toaster compartment, as sometimes the bread would fall down into the oven area. Not perfect, but it gets the job done with a bit of ingenuity and patience. Regarding patience - the incessant beeping can get a tad irritating if you're always in the same room with your toaster oven. "I see you - I know you popped." Ha, it's a mild annoyance, really, but one I did often wish would stfu. Might just be me. Overall it's a good toaster oven, hence a solid 3 stars.
It seems most appliances aren't built to last much longer than 6 months. I guess I'll buy a replacement and find out.

Because of the Toaster/Oven design, the toaster racks don't drop all the way down into the body of the toaster so there is the potential for larger pieces of bread to stick out of the top of the toaster, or for irregular toasting of the bread.
I've had this toaster for about 3 weeks and don't have any major complaints or concerns. At this point I don't see any reason why I would want a different toaster. Durability to be determined.
